School building collapses in Jos, ‘kills 4’ pupils

About four pupils were killed after a school building collapsed in Jos south local government area of Plateau state, on Sunday evening.

The incident was said to have happened when the victims were studying in their classroom.

Muhammad Abdulsalam, spokesman for the ‪National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), confirmed the incident but could not give details.

“So far, four children have been confirmed dead while five others have sustained injuries and have been taken to the specialists hospital,” he told reporters.

“Our men are still carrying out the rescue mission and by tomorrow. I will give you the details.”

Danlami Muhammad, a resident of the community, said about 40 children were inside the building when it collapsed.

“I cannot give details of the casualties as at now because we are still trying to rescue them,” he said.
