Senate confirms Agbasi as MD of FERMA
The senate has confirmed Chukwuemeka Agbasi as the managing director (MD) of the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA).
The upper legislative chamber also confirmed Ibi Manasseh, Kenneth Ugbala, Timothy Aduda, Babatunde Daramola, Preye Oseke, Aminu Papa, Abubakar Bappa, Shehu Mohammed, and Yusuf Othman as members of the FERMA board.
The senate confirmed the nominees after Hussaini Uba, chairman of the senate committee on FERMA, presented a report for consideration.
Uba said the nominees were all invited and screened, and are fit to hold office.
The senator said the executive should send a bill amending the FERMA Act and appoint two women in line with the law establishing the agency.
“Two women should be nominated and forwarded to serve on the board of FERMA,” he said.
After his presentation, Senate President Godswill Akpabio put the nominations to a voice vote and were approved.
President Bola Tinubu had asked the senate to confirm the nominees.
