Seven Badoo suspects arraigned, granted bail

Seven suspected members of the dreaded Badoo cult were on Friday arraigned before a magistrate court in Ebute Meta, Lagos state.

They are facing a four-count charge bordering on conspiracy and belonging to an unlawful society.

The accused are Afolabi Kessington (25), Ismaila Shaibu (36), Mutiu Nurudeen (26), Ibrahim Bello (25), Lukman Mohammed (35), Gift Itafa (50) and Sheriff Adewunmi (23).

The defendants plead “not guilty” when the charge was read.

Fidelis Dike, the prosecutor, told the court that the accused persons conspired and gathered at Powerline, Agbala area of Ikorodu and Irawo estate, Owode-Onirin to hold their meeting.

Dike said this happened between July 3 and July 5.

But Kofo Ariyo, the magistrate, granted the accused persons bail in the sum of N200,000.

They are to provide two sureties in like sum, one of whom must be a blood relation.

The case has been adjourned to August 9.
