A free-for-all fight broke out on Wednesday at the Iyana Iba axis of Lagos between members of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN).

The fracas started on Wednesday afternoon at the under-bridge area at Iyana Iba, along Lagos-Badagry expressway in Ojo LGA.

TheCable understands that the fracas was between two factions of the RTEAN over leadership of the park.

Two persons are feared to have died in the ensuing violence, but TheCable has not been able to verify this claim.

However, several people were injured during the clash.

The incident sparked apprehension in the area as commuters scampered for safety, while the road was said to have been clocked at the time.

Videos showing parts of the fracas have appeared on social media.

In one of the videos seen by TheCable, some persons are seen throwing bottles, stones, tyres and other objects at each other in the area.

Confirming the incident, Benjamin Hundeyin, Lagos police spokesperson, said the fracas was between two factions of road transport workers.

“Two factions of road transport workers are the ones fighting,” Hundeyin said.

He, however, also said there is no confirmation on the status of casualties, adding that calm has now been restored to the area.
