Troops of the Nigerian army have reportedly killed six Boko Haram members, following a raid on the terrorists’ camp in Sambisa forest, Borno state.

Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication focused on the Lake Chad region, said troops of operation Hadin Kai, in collaboration with the civilian joint task force (CJTF), killed the insurgents on September 7, during a fighting patrol at Garin Ba’aba in Bama LGA of the state.

The publication quoted sources as saying that the insurgents attempted to resist the troops’ offensive but were “instantly” neutralised.

“We entered their village at Garin Ba’abba which is inside Sambisa forest. We encountered their surveillance team known as ‘Murabitun’ and instantly neutralised four among them,” a source was quoted as saying.

“The rest of the Boko Haram began screaming Allahu Akhbar, Allahu Akhbar and started firing from their position.

“But during the gunbattle that ensued, we gunned down two more terrorists while the rest escaped.”

Military operations against insurgents in the north-east state have recorded some progress in recent months.
