Stop this unnecessary grumbling, PDP tells Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari must “stop grumbling unnecessarily” and concentrate on how to redeem the economy, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said on Sunday.

In its Eid-El-Kabir message released to the media in Abuja on Sunday, the party criticised the president’s message, released earlier in the day, which blamed previous administrations by saying “it is impossible to separate the present from the past”.

“The present recession is as a result of cumulative effects of worldwide economic downturn and failure in the past to plan and save for difficult times,” Buhari had said.

“It is impossible to separate the present from the past to appreciate the extent to which mistakes of the past are affecting everyday life today.”

Responding, PDP urged the president to focus his energy on building the economy rather than on complaining.

“Mr. President in his Salah Message today, again blamed the present Acute Economic Recession on the past administration and global economic downturn,” read the statement, signed by Dayo Adeyeye, national publicity secretary of PDP.

“Let Mr. President and his Party, the APC, be reminded that it took a smart and experienced world-class Economic Team in the Year 2010 to lead Nigerians through a cushioned global financial meltdown and beyond.

“The ‘Change’ is really with them (APC) and their barrage of falsehood. They were elected to further better the lots of Nigerians, and not to dish out constant complaints on the situation which they mindlessly created with its attendant consequences on our collective destinies.

“It is therefore high time they stopped this unnecessary grumbling and concentrate on how to redeem our economy by providing good governance to the people.”

PDP also joined “other well-meaning Nigerians to felicitate with our Muslim brothers and sisters worldwide on the occasion of Eid-El-Kabir, the ‘Festival of Sacrifice'”.

It advised all Nigerians, especially the political and ruling class in the country, to emulate Father Abraham for his willingness and total obedience to the will of God by agreeing to sacrifice his only son.

“We want to use this opportunity once again to celebrate and felicitate with all our Muslim brothers and sisters in Nigeria and across the world on this occasion of Eid-El-Kabir as instituted by Allah through Prophet Ibrahim,” it said.

“We want to also urge Nigerians to use this period and pray for the recovery of our ailing economy, the unity and oneness of this Country and continue making sacrifices for Nigeria to become great again.”

Buhari who believe in sharia cannot take Nigeria to economic level that depends and look up to western world. He can take us to measure with the Arab world. Nigeria is not a country that wants to be like Arab world. We need a leader that is not Arab or looking up to Arab world. The change begin with you.

The present economic downturn in Nigeria is cause by corrupt politicians who over the years have refused to put country first. Instead, they help themselves and cronies to the national treasury at the expense of working poor who are toiling day and night without filling the impact of good governance.

That narrative is now a source of pain to our collective ears.

Now concentrate on the damage the politicians of today are also doing to the country.

Buhari and his group are part of Nigeria’s problems.
