A 19-year-old law student of the Ahmadu Bello University (pictured), Zaria, Kaduna state, has been taken into isolation after falling ill in a manner symptomatic of Ebola.

State commissioner of health, Dr. Thot Dogo, said the student, who had been hospitalised at the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH) for more than a week, but the Ebola-like symptoms were only noticed on Tuesday.

He said the blood sample of the patient had been sent to a laboratory in Lagos for tests, and the outcome, to be revealed on Tuesday, will determine the next line of action.

However, the ministry of health ruled out any chance that the student”s illness is down to Ebola.

“The Kaduna report is totally untrue,” special assistant on media and communication to the minister of health, Dan Nwomeh, told TheCable.

“In fact, ABUTH has no lab that can diagnose Ebola as reported.”
