One of the major things that make a baby cry very loudly is hunger. And he or she will not stop crying till he or she is filled. After a while, he or she will cry again. This process continues till he or she leaves the planet earth. Hunger is a sign that the baby is healthy! And death comes knocking on the door when hunger is withdrawn.

It is the same way when it comes to our walk with God as believers. Hunger is a sign that we are living a healthy spiritual life. When hunger ceases, spiritual death begins. And it is continuous hunger for a deep walk with God that makes us ceaselessly cry to Him in prayer. It is safe to say that prayerlessness is equivalent to lack of hunger for more in God.

Growth and hunger are two sides of a coin. Those who grow are those who hunger and thirst for it. In fact, whatever you do not thirst and hunger for, you cannot get it. It is the same way when it comes to spiritual growth. Remember, what you will not hunger for, you cannot be filled with it, therefore, hunger is a blessing (Matthew 5:6). And one of the manifestations of the blessing is hunger!

Decades back, there used to be many vibrant and strong believers when we were growing up but today, they are visibly no longer strong and vibrant. The reason is very simple: They have stopped being hungry and thirsty. To keep being strong and vibrant, you will need to keep being hungry and thirsty. For the umpteenth time, once hunger ceases, spiritual death begins.

God wants to show you more in Him, on the condition that you will hunger and thirst for more in Him. Revelation-knowledge and spiritual gifts have ceased in many believers’ lives, because they have stopped being hungry and thirsty for them. May you be baptized afresh with the blessing and fire of hunger right now, in Jesus Name!

I read about two believers—who were hungry for revival in their country and the proof that they were truly hungry for a revival was consistent prayer. They prayed to a level where God showed them the link to the revival. Not long after that, the person came into their country and two years after, revival broke out in that country! Can you see the impact of hunger on their lives? No one gets hungry and remains the same.

When you see a life that is not making much progress; check his or her hunger level. Many are not hungry for anything. This is the reason they are not getting anything done. When a man/woman gets hungry, sleep becomes secondary to him or her. I challenge you to get hungry for success right now and nothing will be able to stop you.

The economic condition of your country cannot stop you from achieving what you are hungry for. You can rise from a lineage where there has never been any great person and you can end up pioneering greatness in that lineage on the condition that you will hunger and thirst for. Hunger (and thirst) delivers greatness in every generation.

Hunger for knowledge will cause a man/woman to build a functional library. I started building a huge library long ago because of hunger for knowledge. Today, when I see someone who is not buying books, I do not need a seer to tell me that he or she is not hungry for knowledge. And lack of hunger for knowledge is too dangerous for a destiny.

Hunger for knowledge caused Abraham Lincoln to trek for hours to borrow books while owners of those books were not reading through them because of lack of hunger. As an effect of hunger, it was easy for him to sacrifice sleep, so he could read through those books before returning them to their owners. And because he knew what many in his time did not know, he was able to access some opportunities to lead and ultimately, he rose to become one of the past presidents of America! Do not forget this principle: what you are not hungry for, you cannot be filled with it.

Till you stop being hungry, the flow of bread will not stop (I spoke heavily on this last Sunday at the church that I pastor in Lagos. It is called Faith For The Nations Christian Centre, Watercress Hotels, Conference Hall, 48, Oritshe Street, By Balogun Bus Stop, Ikeja. I will take this teaching further this Sunday. Kindly join us): “So when they were filled, He said to His disciples, gather up the fragments that remain, so that nothing is lost (John 6:12).” And till there is no more space in you to fill, the flow of oil will not stop (2Kings 4:6). When you keep being hungry and thirsty, the bread of God’s word will keep multiplying in your belly and the oil will keep flowing toward you.

Lastly, one of the major reasons the bread of God’s word has stopped increasing and multiplying in your life is because you have stopped being hungry for it. And one of the reasons the anointing has stopped flowing towards you—helping you to break the yoke and lifting the burden is lack of hunger. Get hungry and start seeing the bread of God’s word increasing and multiplying in your life again. Get hungry and start seeing the flow of the anointing towards you again. Remember, resources of heaven are never sent to those who are not hungry and thirsty for them, because God detests waste! What people do not hunger and thirst for will always be wasted.
