‘They died in pursuit of better Nigeria’ — PDP mourns members involved in auto accident

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has mourned its members who were involved in an auto accident. 

TheCable had reported how 16 PDP supporters died in a truck accident in Jwak village, Panyam district, Mangu LGA of Plateau, when they were on their way back from a zonal rally of the party, which was held in Pankshin area of the state.

In a statement issued on Monday, Debo Ologunagba, PDP spokesperson, said the party is “grief-stricken over the ghastly motor accident”.

Ologunagba described the deceased as “committed members” who died “in pursuit of a better country”.

“Our hearts bleed. Our Party deeply grieves at the loss of these patriotic Nigerians who paid the supreme prize while gallantly devoting their lives in the quest with other compatriots to rescue our nation from the anti-people All Progressives Congress (APC),” the statement reads.

“The PDP mourns these courageous patriots who lost their lives in the pursuit of a better country with a purposeful leadership that cares for the wellbeing of all citizens, adding that they shall never be forgotten.

“The Party deeply commiserates with the families of the victims of the accident and prays to God to grant them grace to bear the loss.

“The PDP also prays to God to heal the injured and grant them a speedy recovery.”

The opposition party added that it has directed that flags at the national headquarters be flown at half-mast to honour “these brave compatriots”.
