Romanus Ejikeme, father of Mmesoma, the Anambra pupil, has countered claim that his daughter manipulated her 2023 UTME result. 

Mmesoma, a student of Anglican Girls Secondary School in Nnewi, became a viral sensation over the claim that she got 362 in this year’s UTME.

However, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) said the student was not the top scorer as claimed, adding that she actually got 249 in the exam.

The board added that she allegedly manipulated her result to “deceive the public to fraudulently obtain a scholarship and other recognitions”.

But speaking with NAN on Monday, Ejikeme said “they gave her (Mmesoma’s) result to another person and they are still intimidating her”.

He described the JAMB allegation as unfair, adding that her daughter did not use any software to manipulate her score as claimed.

“My daughter has been taking the first position from her nursery school till now. Some of these results are still with me and I have shown them to some journalists who came to my house and they were surprised,” he said.

“I showed her results to them and they were like wow. Those who have met with her will know she can’t manipulate results.

“I am just explaining to the world that my daughter’s result has been manipulated. I am not happy about it, they gave her result to another person and they are still intimidating her. What they are doing is not good.”

Mmesoma had earlier addressed the controversy surrounding her UTME result.

The Anambra state government also constituted a panel to investigate the incident.
