David Umahi, the minister of works, says the Third Mainland Bridge which has been partially closed to traffic, will be reopened fully on Thursday, April 4.

He said this in Lagos while inspecting ongoing projects in the state with the members of the senate and house committees on works.

The minister said the decision to reopen the bridge will ease the inconvenience experienced by road users.

“In the next seven days, the bridge will be opened to ease traffic,” he said.

“Officially, President Bola Tinubu will be commissioning the rehabilitated road when he will be inaugurating the construction of the coastal road,” the minister said.

He explained that the 11.8-kilometre dual-lane project being constructed by CCECCC-China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation, was awarded at the cost of N21 billion, out of which 30 percent of the cost has been paid.

He, however, said that there are some additional costs that came up from asphalt which was N22,000 per square metre, solar light and CCTV installation, among others.
