Three tricyclists have reportedly been killed by gunmen enforcing the sit-at-home order of the proscribed Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) in Ebonyi state.

Reports say the incident took place on Tuesday at the Ishi-Eke market in Abakiliki, the capital city.

In a viral video, the gunmen could be seen shooting sporadically, while demanding that Nnamdi Kanu, the detained IPOB leader, be released.

A loud voice in the viral video said they will continue to enforce the sit-at-home order until Kanu is set free, as gunshots rented the still mid-day air.

“It is happening live at Ishi-Eke market, Abakiliki in Ebonyi state. We demand the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. The land will know no peace if Kanu is still detained,” the voice in the video said.

“Shoot them, kill them, destroy everything and set it on fire, since they cannot obey simple instruction. They were asked to stay at home but they neglected the instruction.

“I don’t want anything to remain. Burn everything you see, we are not happy at all. Kanu must be released. No Nnamdi Kanu, no peace in the land. As you can see, everywhere is burning.”

On June 14, Simon Ekpa, a self-acclaimed disciple of Kanu, declared a total lockdown from July 3 to 10, excluding July 6, across states in the south-east, to press demands for the release of the IPOB leader.
