Three more students abducted from the Federal Government College (FGC) Birnin-Yauri, in Kebbi state, have reportedly regained freedom.

Salim Ka’oje, chairman of the abducted FGC, Birnin-Yauri students committee, confirmed the development on Monday.

On June 17, 2021, several students including teachers of FGC Birnin-Yauri were abducted from their school by gunmen.

Ka’oje said the students, identified as Aliya Abubakar, Esther Sunday, and Elizabeth Ogechi-Kwafor, were set free by their kidnappers on Sunday evening but arrived in Kebbi on Monday.

“The three girls were released on Sunday evening by their abductors but they arrived in Kebbi on Monday afternoon,” NAN quoted Ka’oje as saying.

“Yes, they released three of the school girls to us on Sunday evening. They are already with the state government.

“The remaining four girls out of the seven are still in the hands of the bandits.”

Since the abduction in 2021, some students have been rescued by troops of the Nigerian Army while many others were reportedly released after a ransom was paid to their captors.

The gunmen later released 27 of the students and an additional 30 were set free after seven months in captivity.

Recently, four of the students regained freedom after being held captive for about two years.
