President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Abuja, the nation’s capital, after a two-day official visit to Qatar.

Tinubu arrived on Monday evening and was received by Vice-President Kashim Shettima and other top government officials at the Nnamdi Azikwe Internationa Airport, Abuja.

Other government officials who welcomed the president included Femi Gbajabiamila, Tinubu’s chief of staff (CoS); George Akume, secretary to the government of the federation (SGF); Nyesom Wike, minister of the federal capital territory (FCT); Abdullahi Ganduje, chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC); and Yusuf Bichi, director-general of the department of state services (DSS).

The federal government had said Tinubu travelled to Qatar to advance cross-sectoral opportunities for mutually beneficial growth and development.

The announcement came after a leaked memo showed that the Arab nation declined a proposed investment forum on the sidelines of the president’s visit.

However, in a fresh memo dated February 23,  from the Qatar embassy, addressed to Nigeria’s ministry of foreign affairs, Qatar agreed to host the business and investment forum proposed by Nigeria during Tinubu’s visit.

During his visit, Tinubu told investors that the Nigerian economy and its systems are being reformed and upgraded.

He also asked the investors to report public officials who demand bribes from them.

Some sectors where Tinubu signed an agreement with Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, Emir of Qatar, to improve cooperation include education, enterprise development, investment promotion, youth empowerment, mining, tourism, and sports.
