The Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) on Tuesday dismissed an application by Senate President Bukola Saraki for one week adjournment to enable him to study a document tendered by the prosecution against him.

Saraki is standing trial on 13 count charges bordering on false asset declaration and money laundering.

In his ruling, Umar Danladi, chairman of the tribunal, held that the application fell short of the requirements of section 396 (3) of the administration of criminal justice act 2015.

Danladi said the tribunal had been accommodating the defence team by giving it more than five adjournments in the case.

He ordered that the trial must continue daily in line with the provisions of the law.

“The defence is hereby ordered to come to court tomorrow for continuation of their cross examination of the prosecution witness,” Danladi said.

The tribunal adjourned the case to April 20 for cross examination.
