Troops ‘flush Boko Haram out of 3 towns’

The military recorded another success in its bid to recover territories lost to Boko Haram insurgents, as Buni Yadi, headquarters of Gujba local government area of Yobe state; Buni Gari, another town in Yobe; and Marte in Borno, have all been recaptured.

Sani Usman, acting director , army public relations, disclosed this in Abuja on Saturday.

He said during the operations, the troops encountered little resistance but the insurgents fled.

“Cordon and search and mopping up operations are ongoing in these areas,” he said in a statement.

“Operations by troops are also continuing to recover the few areas remaining in the hands of terrorists.”

Usman added that Marte had also been liberated.

“In continuation of avowed recovery of territories held by Boko Haram insurgents, the Nigerian military have recaptured Marte local governments area of Borno,” he added.

“The gallant and courageous troops recovered a large quantity of high calibre arms and ammunitions, including anti-aircraft guns from the insurgents.’’
