Troops ‘kill two terrorists, rescue 35 kidnap victims’ in Katsina

The Nigerian army says its troops killed two terrorists and rescued 35 kidnap victims in Katsina.

In a statement on Monday, Yahaya Ibrahim, the information officer of Operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD), said the victims were rescued by the joint task force.

“The success was achieved on Jan. 27, during clearance operation to some identified terrorist camps at Dumburum forest,” he said.

“During the operation, troops had an encounter with the armed terrorists, neutralised two of them, while others escaped with severe gunshot wounds.

“Among the 35 rescued victims were 19 males, 12 females as well as four children.

“All the rescued victims were handed over to the Katsina State Government by the Nigerian Army.”
