The Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) in Borno state says two Boko Haram commanders identified as Ibrahim Muhammed and Auwal Muhammed have surrendered.

NAN reports that Abubakar Abdullahi, spokesperson of the MNJTF, announced the development in a statement on Tuesday.

Abdullahi said the former Boko Haram commanders caved in as a result of intensified kinetic and non-kinetic operations targeting terrorist groups within sector 3 of the MNJTF.

The MNJTF is a combined multinational formation comprising military units from Benin, Cameroon, Chad, Niger and Nigeria.
