Gunmen have killed two farmers in Dapye village in Wukari local government area of Taraba state.

Adigrace Daniel, chairman of the local council, confirmed the incident, saying the victims identified as Siman Bala and Timothy Awe were attacked while they were working on their farmlands.

The chairman said he led a team of security operatives to the scene upon getting the information about the attack, but only met the bodies of the farmers. 

David Misal, police public relations officer in the state, also confirmed the incident, saying efforts were ongoing to arrest the killers.

Wukari had been in the news following series of clashes between the Jukun and Tiv ethnic groups. 

Commenting on the crisis in 2019, President Muhammadu Buhari had said “it is shocking how brothers kill brothers.”
