Two persons sustained injuries after fire gutted a storey building around Tejuosho market in Yaba, Lagos.

The fire outbreak occurred on Thursday.

In a statement, Nosa Okunbor, public relations officer of Lagos State Emergency Management (LASEMA), said the outbreak was as a result of power surge from one of the rooms, which escalated to other parts of the building.

“The intensity of the fire have caused physical cracks and collapse of the building,” he said.

Okunbor said no life was lost, and the injured persons had been taken to the hospital for treatment.

He said rescue operation is ongoing as needed agencies were working to prevent a spread of the fire.

“However, no loss of life but two male adults sustained injuries and had been taken to the hospital,” he said.
