Two people have been rescued from a fire incident that occurred at Victory Bay, Ikota housing estate in the Ajah area of Lagos state.

The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service said the outbreak occurred on Tuesday.

Margaret Adeseye, director of the service, said two male adults were rescued with varying degrees of burns.

“Emergency alert was received at 04:10 hours, Tuesday. The incident involved a shanty storey building consisting of 4 rooms on each floor within the precinct of the estate,” she said.

“On arrival of the Lekki Phase II Fire crew of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, the victims were rescued alive with varying degrees of burns with the support of communal sympathizers.

“The victims were attended to by the Lagos State Ambulance Service before they were taken to hospital for further treatment.”

On September 6, a fire outbreak was recorded at the international wing of the Murtala Muhammed airport.

The section of the airport that was affected was the primary gateway, causing disruptions to certain operations.

The fire also affected a section of the administrative office of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).
