Uba Sani, governor of Kaduna, says the government will cooperate with the armed forces to win the war against terrorism and banditry in the country.

Sani spoke on Monday during the Armed Forces Remembrance Day at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna.

He said the occasion provided an opportunity for Nigerians to honour veterans and heroes who laid their lives in defence of the nation.

“Today’s event offers us the opportunity to honour our veterans. It also gives us the opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices, bravery, and commitment of our fallen heroes who lost their lives in the defence of our territory’s integrity,” Sani said.

Sani commended the armed forces and other security agencies for the fight against terrorism, banditry and other criminal acts across the country.

He stressed that the fight against banditry and terrorism is on course, adding that governors would continue to cooperate with the military and other security agencies to bring an end to all forms of criminality troubling the country.

The Kaduna governor noted that there have been some setbacks in the fight against banditry in recent weeks, adding that he is confident that the security forces will soon bring the situation to an end.

“Of course, the fight against banditry and terrorism in Nigeria is something that is on course,” he added.

“In recent weeks we had some setbacks, but I have no doubt in my mind because I have confidence in our armed forces and of course, Mr. President has also made it clear that we have to come up with a time frame on when this battle against banditry and terrorism has to end.

“We are going to cooperate with the armed forces in our capacities as governors and the federal government, to ensure that this war against banditry and terrorism is brought to a successful end.”

The governor also visited wounded soldiers at the Nigerian Air Force Hospital and the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital, where he donated medical equipment, wheelchairs, blankets and other medical supplies to the hospitals.
