Danladi Umar, chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT), will rule on Senate President Bukola Saraki’s application seeking the withdrawal of the judge from his trial, on October 5.

Ibrahim Alhassan, spokesman of the CCT, disclosed this in a statement on Monday.

In June, Saraki, who is facing charges of false declaration of assets at the CCT, filed an application asking Umar to disqualify himself from the case.

The senate president cited bias on the part of Umar as the reason for his application.

After hearing the application, Umar adjourned to July for ruling, but he later postponed it.

Alhassan also disclosed that judgment in the case of Godsday Orubebe, former minister of Niger Delta affairs, who is facing a charge of false declaration of asset, would be delivered on September 21.

“The chairman Code of Conduct Tribunal, Hon DanladiYakubu Umar has approved the rescheduling of 21 of September, 2016 for the delivery of judgment of case against erstwhile minister of Niger Delta affairs, Godsday Peter Orubebe,” he said.

“This was contained in a notice of tribunal’s sittings scheduled for the month of September/October respectively, captioned ‘Re-notification of tribunal session for the months of September and October, 2016’ and signed by principal registrar I Barr Victor Isibor for director legal services department, dated 17 August, 2016.

“Also the document contains case of Senate President, Dr Olubukola Abubakar Saraki, on his motion, slated for ruling on the 5th of October, 2016.”
