Hope Uzodinma, governor of Imo and chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), says the implementation of the Stephen Oronsaye report will improve governance and boost the country’s economy.

Recently, President Bola Tinubu directed the implementation of the report which will lead to scrapping, merging, and subsuming of some government agencies.

Speaking with reporters on Friday after visiting with Vice-President Kashim Shettima at the presidential villa, Uzodinma described the Oronsaye report as “brilliant”.

The governor said his administration has a similar plan for agencies in Imo.

“All over the world, what people are talking about now; due to exigencies of the economic impact globally, is to cut costs and do prudent management of resources,” Uzodinma said.

“So, Steve Oronsanya’s report is a very brilliant, bold and courageous document. If properly implemented, it will add value to the current policies and determination of the government to cut costs and be prudent in expenditure.”

Uzodinma said the security situation in Imo state has improved.

“When you are under or enjoying the grace of God, all your problems are solved,” he said.

“So, I am very happy and delighted that the security situation in Imo state has improved; not only Imo state but the south-east as a region.”

He added that the hardship that has followed the economic reforms of the federal government would soon be over.
