The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors’ forum (PDP-GF) says its new members have the leadership capacity to succeed in their states.

In a statement congratulating governors of the party who were sworn into office on Monday, CID Maduabum, PDP-GF director-general, said the party was ready to support and assist them to succeed.

The PDP governors who took the oath of office are Ahmadu Fintiri (Adamawa), Bala Mohammed (Bauchi), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Umo Eno (Akwa Ibom), Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta), Peter Mbah (Enugu), Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau), Siminalayi Fubara (Rivers), Agbu Kefas (Taraba), and Dauda Lawal (Zamfara).

Maduabum said the governors are “capable hands” who would pilot the affairs of their various states to meet the expectations of citizens.

He said the office of the governor is a call to service for the people that come with “pressing demands and responsibilities, requiring focus, loyalty, discipline, professionalism and diligence, traits they all have in abundance”.

“We have high hopes that they will prove their leadership capacities as a result of their vast experiences and earlier career endeavours,” the statement reads.

The forum pledged to support and assist the governors in providing a “conducive environment through peer review activities and other actions geared toward excellence in office to effect strategic socio-economic changes in their respective states to reciprocate the trust and mandate given to them by their people”.

The PDP has also congratulated the governors and asked them to deliver good governance to the people.

In a statement issued on Monday night, Debo Ologunagba, PDP spokesperson, said the governors who have been sworn in for a second term have “demonstrated in their outstanding performances, particularly in transforming their states in the last four years in line with the manifesto of the PDP”.

The opposition parties urged the governors to “hit the ground running in delivering good governance in their respective states”.
