Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers state, has threatened to sue Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA) for allegedly not paying part fund for the reconstruction of a road leading to the port.

Wike issued the threat at the inauguration of N303 million 1.4- kilometer industrial road project in Port Harcourt, as part of activities marking his one year in office.

He said the road project which linked the port, was meant to be funded by both the state government and NPA.

Wike said the industrial road was dilapidated when he approached the authority to assist his administration in the reconstruction of the road.

“We agreed with NPA and even signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to contribute for reconstruction of the road,” he said.

“After signing, NPA did not bring a dime, and today they are benefitting as economic activities have increased in the port.

“We have promised our people that we will not allow them to continue to suffer or allow people and organisations to play politics with projects.
