A witness has alleged that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was robbed during the July 14 governorship election in Ekiti state.

Omobuljo Bankole told the election tribunal on Tuesday that PDP votes were “deliberately voided” by a staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Testifying before the tribunal at the FCT high court, the PDP witness specifically said the party’s votes were voided in unit 009, ward 4 of Ido-Osi local government area.

The PDP and Olusola Kolapo, its candidate in the governorship election, had approached the tribunal to challenge the outcome of the exercise.

Speaking during cross-examination by Abiodun Owonikoko, counsel to the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bankole said his party scored more than 119 votes during the election in his unit.

“I was there when they deliberately voided the PDP’s voters in Unit 9 (ward 4, Ido -Osi LGA), the male polling clerk of INEC voided 27 votes,” NAN quoted him as saying.

Kolapo had asked the tribunal to declare him winner of the poll, as against Kayode Fayemi who won the election.
