JLo, Pitbull, Claudia ‘no longer one’
The Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) has announced the withdrawal of American singer, Jenifer Lopez, from the list of artistes scheduled to perform the World Cup theme song.
JLo was to perform alongside fellow artistes, Pittbull and Claudia Leitte, during the tournament’s opening ceremony on Thursday in Brazil. But due to “unspecified production issues”, the football governing body said she is now out.
In an e-mailed response to Association Press, JLo’s representatives confirmed the pullout without explaining the reason.
“Regretfully, Jennifer Lopez will not be attending this year’s World Cup opening ceremonies,” they wrote.
FIFA also confirmed that Pitbull and Brazilian singer Claudia Leitte will perform the official World Cup song, We Are One, before Brazil take on Croatia in the opening game of the tournament.
