The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) says Asisat Oshoala will be doubtful for Super Falcons’ game against Australia in the Women’s World Cup.

In a statement on Tuesday, the federation said the FC Barcelona Femini striker picked up a knock during the goalless draw against Canada.

Oshoala played most of the match against Canada on Friday before Jennifer Echegini replaced her in the stoppage time.

The five-time African player of the year suffered a nasty tackle from Quinn, a Canadian defender, in the 16th minute of the game, but she persevered through the knock.

However, Randy Waldum, Super Falcons coach, has options of playing Desire Oparanozie, Gift Monday or Uchenna Kanu as a replacement.

The Falcons are billed to play Australia, the tournament’s co-host, on Thursday. The Matildas won their first game 1-0 against the Republic of Ireland and sit top of the group.

Speaking on the clash, Onome Ebi said Nigerians are heading to the match for victory, adding that “there are no two ways about it”.

“We will go in there and play to win. There are no two ways about it. Only three points will be good enough for us,” the team captain said.

Nigeria will take on Ireland in their final group game on July 31.
