Yahaya Bello, governor of Kogi, has reappointed five members of his cabinet who resigned their positions to contest in the governorship primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) which was held on April 14.

According to Kingsley Fanwo, commissioner for information, the governor administered the oath of office, secrecy and allegiance on the reappointed aides at an executive council meeting held at Lugard House on Monday.

Those reappointed include Asiwaju Ashiru, commissioner for finance, budget and economic planning; Deedat Ozigi, commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs; Abdulkareem Jamiu, chief of staff; Jubrin Momoh, accountant general and Yakubu Okala, auditor general of the state.

Fanwo said the governor urged the returning appointees to be loyal and serve diligently to move the administration forward.

The commissioner said the executive council during the meeting, received reports on the progress of several projects currently being executed by the Yahaya Bello’s administration.

He added that the governor reiterated his commitment and determination to ensure that all ongoing projects in the state are completed before the end of his administration.

“The executive council equally approved a memo seeking for the establishment of the directorate of medical laboratory services in the ministry of health, which would create cooperations amongst medical laboratory scientists across the states, particularly in health care institutions,” NAN quoted Fanwo as saying.

“A memo seeking for a law to repeal the prohibition of kidnapping and other related matters, law 2015 and be reenacted, Kogi state prohibition of kidnapping and other related matters, law 2023 was also received.”

Fanwo said the state attorney general was directed by the council to forward the bill to the state house of assembly for consideration.

He said the law, when passed, will help in strengthening the criminal justice system of the state and to further nip in the bud, issues of kidnapping, thuggery and other violent crimes.
