Bomb hits Mauduguri for the 5th time in 24hours

Three female suicide bombers blew themselves up in a suburb of Maiduguri, capital of Borno state, on Friday morning.

The attack was the fifth incident of bomb explosion in Maiduguri in the last 24 hours, resulting in 49 injuries and 39 deaths, according to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).

 

An emergency official told the BBC that the attackers could be between 11 and 15 years old.

The blast was reported to have occurred around a few minutes past 5am when Muslim faithful were getting ready for the early-morning prayer, according to Channels TV.

The explosion reportedly claimed the lives of the suicide bombers and four others while 17 injured are said to be receiving treatment at the Specialist Hospital.

The attacks come hours after insurgents blew up a mosque in the Molai area of the city, killing an unspecified number of people.

Borno has been the state most devastated by attacks from insurgents, most of them happening in Maiduguri.
