Nigeria to receive 176,000 doses of J&J COVID vaccine
Faisal Shuaib, executive director of NPHCDA, stated this in Abuja, on Tuesday.
According to Shuaib, the J&J vaccine is “safe and efficient against the COVID-19 disease, including the deadlier Delta variant”.
The federal government will begin administering the second batch of COVID-19 vaccine doses on August 16.

Oxford director asks Britain to donate COVID vaccines rather than give boosters
Andrew Pollard, director of the Oxford Vaccine Group, has asked Britain to donate COVID-19 vaccines to other countries rather than offer citizens a third dose.
His advice comes amid plans by Britain to start administering a booster shot to residents by September.
“There isn’t any reason at this moment to panic. We’re not seeing a problem with breakthrough severe disease,” he said.
“Doses that are available that could be used for boosting or for childhood programmes are much better deployed for people who will die over the next six months rather than that very unlikely scenario of a sudden collapse in the programmes in countries that are highly vaccinated.”
