Three female suicide bombers have been killed in an explosion from  bomb vests strapped around them.

Victor Isukwu, Borno police spokesman, told TheCable that the three bombers were approaching Maiduguri when troops of the Nigeria army spotted them around Molai village, and shot them.

Isukwu said a bullet hit one of the bombers detonating the explosive device, and setting off an explosion that consumed the three.

Lately, internally-displaced-persons (IDPs) camps in Borno have been the target of suicide bombers.

Last month, an IDP camp was attacked with a record of casualties.

The government insists that Boko Haram has been defeated, but the sect still carries out attacks on soft targets and on soldiers.
