Ibrahim Magu, acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), joined President Muhammadu Buhari for Ju’mat service at the presidential villa in Abuja on Friday.
After the prayers, the anti-graft czar exchanged pleasantries with some dignitaries before leaving.
He did not hold any meeting with the president.
This is the first time both men would be seen together publicly since the levelling of corruption allegations against Magu.
The senate had refused to confirm Magu’s appointment based on a report from the Department of State Service (DSS).
The DSS accused Magu of benefitting from proceeds of corruption, an allegation he denied.
On December 18, Buhari directed Abubakar Malami, attorney-general of the federation (AGF), to probe Magu.
Malami subsequently issued the EFCC boss a query to which he responded promptly.
The last is yet to be heard on the issue.
Last week, the presidency dismissed rumours of Magu’s sack, describing them as “speculative and preemptive.”
“We are reading reports that the EFCC chairman, Ibrahim Magu has been sacked,” Garba Shehu, spokesman to president, had said in a statement.
“No report has been made available to the presidency by the Attorney General of the federation over the matter. The report of his sack is therefore speculative and preemptive.”
