‘My administration was built on transparency’ — Ortom says he is ready for probe

Samuel Ortom, immediate past governor of Benue, says he is ready to cooperate with the commissions set up to probe the activities of his administration.

In a statement by Terver Akase, media aide to the former governor, Ortom said he would provide the panels with all information needed for carry out the investigation.

He urged all his appointees to make themselves available when called up in during the course of the investigation.

Hyacinth Alia, governor of Benue, had on Tuesday inaugurated two panels to probe the administration of Ortom from 2015 to 2023.

Alia said the two Judicial commissions will commence an inquiry into the income and expenditures of Benue state government from May 29, 2015 to May 28, 2023.

One of the commissions will also look into  the Sale/Lease of government assets during the period.

“The immediate past governor of Benue state, chief Samuel Ortom welcomes the inauguration of two judicial commissions by his successor, governor Hyacinth Alia, to probe the activities of his administration between 2015 and 2023,” the statement reads.

“The former governor expresses his willingness to cooperate with the probe panels as long as the investigation is carried out in line with the law and stresses that his administration was built on transparency, accountability, and good governance.

“He emphasizes his readiness to provide any information or clarification, as may be required.

“Chief Ortom urges his former appointees to equally make themselves available whenever called upon to provide clarifications.”
