The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) says it has set up an eight-man committee to investigate poor services rendered to Nigerian pilgrims during the 2023 hajj exercise in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.

In a statement on Wednesday, Mousa Ubandawaki, deputy director of information and publication at NAHCON, said the committee would review the quality of the services and make recommendations for future hajj exercises.

The committee was inaugurated by Nura Yakasai, commissioner in charge of policy personnel, management and finance (PPMF), on behalf of Zikrullah Hassan, chairman of the commission.

“The decision was part of the resolution adopted at the end of a meeting between NAHCON, state Muslim pilgrims welfare boards and tour operators, which was held at the commission’s Ummul-Judd office in Makkah and was attended by the executive secretaries/chairmen or Amirul Hajj of the 36 states, FCT, the armed forces and members of AHOUN,” the statement reads.
