Nine aides to Ortom test positive for COVID-19

Nine aides of Samuel Ortom, governor of Benue state, have tested positive for COVID-19.

Benson Abounu, deputy governor of Benue state and chairman, state action committee on COVID-19, disclosed this at a press conference in Makurdi, the state capital, on Wednesday.

The deputy governor said the state action committee on COVID-19 is currently tracing those who came in contact with the nine aides who have the virus.

He said the development will not affect the day-to-day running of government.

Ortom had earlier announced that he had tested positive for coronavirus, advising those who he came in contact with recently to go for COVID test.

The governor, who allayed the fears of Nigerians, especially Benue resident on the virus, said getting tested for COVID is one of the ways to prevent the spread of the disease.
