PHOTOS: Betara, speakership aspirant, meets reps-elect in Saudi Arabia

Muktar Betara, a member of the house of representatives, on Monday, met with some lawmakers-elect in Saudi Arabia.

Betara, who is in Mecca for the lesser hajj, met with some house of representatives members-elect from Kaduna, Gombe, Jigawa, Adamawa, Bauchi, and Katsina states.

The lawmaker, who represents Biu/Kwaya Kusar/Bayo/Shani federal constituency of Borno, is currently the chairman of the house of representatives committee on appropriation.

He is among those seeking to succeed Femi Gbajabiamila as speaker of the 10th assembly which will be inaugurated in June.

Other APC lawmakers in the speakership race include Idris Wase (Plateau), Sada Soli (Katsina), Yusuf Gagdi (Plateau), Ben Kalu (Abia), Miriam Onuoha (Imo), and Tajudeen Abbas (Kaduna).

TheCable learnt that at the meeting, Betara told the lawmakers-elects that he will “carry everybody along” if elected.
