Police: Six suspected kidnappers arrested in FCT

The federal capital territory (FCT) police command says its operatives have arrested six suspected kidnappers behind some abductions in the nation’s capital. 

In a statement on Monday, Josephine Adeh, FCT police spokesperson, said operatives of the command attached to the anti-kidnapping unit acted on credible intelligence and raided a hostel in Bassa village, FCT, where the suspects were hiding.

Those arrested include four males and two females.

The police spokesperson gave their name as Buhari Muhammad, a 20-year-old wanted kidnap kingpin; Muhammad Sabiu; Isah Abdullahi; Hamzat Musa; Fatima Abdullahi and Zuliat Yusuf.

“The notorious kidnap syndicate were responsible for the abduction of one Joshua Eze, the husband to Blessing Eze who suffered a bullet injury in the process of her husband’s abduction on 27/01/2024 and was subsequently rescued unhurt by Police operatives of the Command on 28/01/2024,” the statement reads.

“One AK47 rifle, 10 mobile phones, cash sum of three hundred and forty-five thousand naira and some other valuables were recovered from the suspects who have since confessed to the crime and other kidnapping incidents in the territory.

“While investigation is still ongoing, the commissioner of police FCT, CP Benneth C. Igweh psc, mni, wishes to assure members of the public of his commitment to rid FCT of criminality in all its manifestations.”
