Swift Networks, a network broadband service provider, on Monday launched a WiFi service that would be free for all users.

Speaking at the launch, Charles Anudu said the service is currently available in Lagos and has a target of two million users daily.

The service, which is named Red Cheetah, will give users a daily data limit of one gigabyte on the app.

“You can download the Red Cheetah app from your Google Play Store on Android or go through www.redcheetah.net and you will be able to use the service,” he said.

“We hope to have 10,000 hotspots in Lagos and so far, we have achieved 500 and this figure includes 250 BRT buses.”

Anudu told journalists that users will be required to view ads from sponsors and partners who make the service free.

The service is already available in locations like MMA-2, Hard Rock Café, Shiro restaurant, Festival Mall, some Tastee Fired Chicken and Bukka Hut outlets, over 200 BRT Buses, Smart Cabs, Eko Hospital, VGC Club.

According to Anudu, businesses who would like to be a part of the service will pay a one-time fee of N30,000.

“We put this fee because free things are abused. Apart from this, there is no other charge. We just have to be sure that the business whether a hairdressing salon or whatsoever, has at least 20 customers with smartphones daily.”

Victoria Onwubiko, Swift’s chief marketing officer, said the company will consult the Advertisers Association of Nigeria (ADVAN) to ensure that the ads are in line with regulations.
