Troops of the Nigerian Army have reportedly killed four Boko Haram insurgents during a raid within the axis of Daula market in Bama LGA of Borno state.

Bama is one of LGAs where insurgents are active in Borno.

According to Zagazola Makama, a publication focused on the Lake Chad region, an intelligence source said the raid was carried out on Friday morning.

“The troops were said to have laid an ambush against the insurgents before engaging them in a gun battle. Four of them were neutralised in the aftermath of the gun battle,” a source was quoted as saying.

The troops also recovered AK-47 rifles and seven bicycles during the raid.

The development comes weeks after troops reportedly bombed a vehicle carrying fighters of the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP), killing many of the insurgents in the airstrike.

Meanwhile, the military has, in recent months, intensified raids on insurgent groups in Borno and other parts of the country.
