The joint task force Operation UDO KA says it has successfully raided a notorious camp belonging to the proscribed Indigenous People Of Biafra and the Eastern Security Network (ESN) in Imo.
In a statement on Sunday, Jonah Unuakhalu, spokesperson of the operation, said the troops encountered the fleeing criminals, some of whom sustained gunshot wounds, and unearthed some shallow graves during the clearance operation.
The raid, which was conducted on Thursday and Friday, led to the recovery of three Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) bomb, a motorcycle, seven Baofeng radios, local ornaments, foreign ATM card, two SIM cards, two voter’s cards, plate numbers of stolen vehicles, and a toolbox, the spokesperson said.
He said the B44 camp of Monday Oluchi-Ogu, located around Njaba River on the border between Awo-Omama community in Oru East LGA and Ezoiha community in Mbaitoli LGA of Imo, was destroyed.
The force commander assured citizens of the south-east of the army’s determination to maintain peace in the region.
“Troops further encountered and detonated some of the planted IEDs meant to hinder troops movements,” he said.
