Troops kill ‘six terrorists’, recover weapons in Kaduna

Troops of Operation Forest Sanity, alongside combatants of the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) special forces, have killed six suspected terrorists in Maidaro village, Giwa LGA of Kaduna state.

Musa Danmadami, director of defence media operations, said in a statement on Saturday that the covert raid of the suspects’ enclaves took place on Friday.

He said the troops engaged in a gunfight with the suspected terrorists, and half a dozen of them were killed while several ammunitions were recovered from the hideout.

Danmadami said five AK-47 rifles, 192 rounds of 7.62 x 39 mm special ammunition, 74 rounds of 7.62 x 54mm special and nine AK-47 rifle magazines were recovered.

“Three IEDs, three Baofeng radios, one PKM, and three motorcycles, amongst other sundry items, were recovered,” he said.

He called on citizens to provide verifiable and helpful information about any perceived terrorist activity in their community.

“The military high command commends troops and encourages the general public to avail troops with credible and timely information on terrorist and all criminal activities within their area,” Danmadani said.
